Programs & Services

The U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services System carries out probation and pretrial services functions in the U.S. District Courts. Typically, this starts with Pretrial and progresses all the way through Post-Conviction Supervision. It is not uncommon for the entire process to last many years, particularly if an individual is sentenced to a long prison term.

Through its officers and other employees, the system works to make the criminal justice process effective and to keep the public safe.
