Adult Education - Maine Adult Education Association:
Scroll down to “List of Programs” to find a county-by-county list of all adult ed programs.
Crisis Hotlines - Maine Suicide and Crisis Hotlines:
Statewide list of suicide/crisis hotlines and intervention teams.
Domestic Violence - Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence:
Click on “Member Projects and Services” to find a list of domestic violence programs across the state.
Employment/ Career Services - Maine Career Center:
Drop-down menu on left will enable you to access career centers across the state. You can also access job fair and other employment and vocational information.
Food/Hunger resources - Maine Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources:
This site will enable you to access a county-by-county list of food pantry locations, complete with days and hours of operation.
Housing Resources - Maine State Housing Authority:
Click on “Emergency Shelter Providers”, then scroll down to “Subsidized Housing Lists by County”. This will enable you to access a county-by-county list of housing resources across the state. Note: You can also access a statewide list of shelters by clicking on “Emergency Shelter Providers”, then scrolling down to “Emergency Shelters”.
Medical Care - Consumers for Affordable Health Care:
Left menu, click on “Resources”, the either “Free Clinics” or “Rural Health Centers” for a statewide list of clinics providing free or low cost health care. Note: If you scroll down to “Other resources”, you can access: Pine Tree Legal, free transportation resources and Social Security offices.
Mental Health Resources - Maine Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services:
On left side menu, click on “Mental Health (Adult).” Then on the next left side menu, click on “Adult Mental Health Providers”, for a Region-by-region list of mental health providers. Inquire with individual MH providers as to whether they provide case management services. Note: Statewide crisis hotline- 1-888-568-112.
Substance Abuse Resources - Maine Department of Substance Abuse:
Click on the “Submit” button, which will bring you to a drop-down menu. This menu will enable you to access statewide lists of detox facilities, as well as: inpatient, residential, intensive outpatient and outpatient treatment services. Note: www.aamaine.org will provide you access to a statewide town-by-town listing of AA meetings.
Volunteer/Community Service resources - Volunteer Maine:
Will allow you to access volunteer opportunities across the state.
